Life at Chroma: How to Make the Most of Your New Home!
Are you getting ready to move into your new home at Chroma? Even if you’re still deciding which community is best for you, we want to share some of our most frequently asked questions and fill you in on all of the answers and recommendations for getting the most out of life at Chroma.
I need to get to know the neighborhood!
Where is the closest T station? Central Square is located .8 miles from Chroma – just walk straight down Sidney St. The 47 bus is another great option for getting around. It picks up just two blocks over from Chroma (on the corner of Putnam Ave.) and will take you to Central Square and to the Longwood Medical Area – giving you easy access to the Red line and the Green line.
How else can I get around if I don’t have a car? Lucky for us, Cambridge is a biker’s paradise! We offer complimentary bike parking in our garage and have 2 loaner bikes available for use at no cost. We have two ZipCars located on Grove Ave as well as a Hubway station next to Flour.
I can’t have takeout every night; where are the closest grocery stores? Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Star Market are within a half mile of Chroma. H Mart is located in Central Square and is .8 miles from Chroma
What if I have guests coming over? Where can they park? We have ten visitor parking spaces in our garage which are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Guest parking is complimentary and limited to three consecutive days. If your guests have a Cambridge parking permit, there are spots available on Grove Ave., just in front of Chroma’s back entrance.
Moving day is coming up! What do I need to do?
You have likely received your personalized move-in letter, complete with instructions on picking up keys, signing your lease, and setting up your utilities. Just in case, here are a few reminders:
How do I sign up for renter’s insurance? You are welcome to obtain your renter’s insurance through whichever provider you prefer. However, for your convenience, we do offer our preferred vendor, Assurant. You can reach them at 855-256-0860 or by visiting QuoteRenters.com. Remember to send us your policy at least 1 day prior to moving in, and be sure to have Chroma listed as an interested party.
Which utilities do I need to set up? You’ll need to set up your gas and electricity accounts prior to moving in. Don’t worry about water; we take care of that one for you. To set up gas and electricity, contact EverSource at 800.592.2000. Once you have the accounts set up, send the verification over to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are looking to set up cable/internet/phone service, reach out to our friend, Luis Troncoso from Comcast at 617.659.2045
Finally – Moving day is here!
I just finished moving. What do I do with all of these boxes?! Recycling is located in our first floor trash room, across from Package Concierge. Simply break down your boxes and stack them neatly.
I did a lot of shopping on Amazon for my new apartment. Where do I pick up packages? You will receive an email from Package Concierge within two days of moving in with a username and password. When you receive a package you’ll receive an email or text message letting you know that your package is ready to be picked up from Package Concierge and from there you can retrieve it 24 hours a day.
I am exhausted from moving. What’s for dinner? There’s almost too much to choose from! If you’re looking for great pizza/subs, we recommend Cambridge Pizza. Craving Mexican? Olecito is the best! Thai food? Definitely order from Thelonious Monkfish. Check out your welcome packet for additional menus and recommendations
Ok, but what about a drink? We’ve got that covered too. There’s a nice, frosty 6 pack of Chroma Amber Ale chilling in your new fridge right now. We and our friends at Portico Brewing Company hope you enjoy it!
